Poland set to surpass Portugal in GDP per capita: Prime Minister

Propelled by robust economic growth, Poland's set to surpass fellow EU member Portugal in terms of GDP per capita next year, the Polish prime minister has said.

Speaking during a visit to New York, Mateusz Morawiecki said that Poland was swiftly increasing its prosperity and improving its position in the 28-nation European Union of which it has been a member since 2004.

"In 2019, our country should overtake Portugal in terms of GDP per capita," he said at a conference in New York headlined Poland: The Can-Do Nation.
