A suspected 37-year-old Turkish gunman is on the run after a shooting in the Dutch city of Utrecht on Monday left 9 people injured and 3 people dead on a tram.
Heavily armed counter terrorism responders have since surrounded a building where the gunman, identified by police as Turkish born Gökmen Tanis, maybe located. Police ordered locals to remain indoors.
Dutch counter terrorism authorities said shots have been fired at "several" locations since the tram shooting and mosques told by police to temporarily close on the back of unconfirmed reports of gunfire near a Utrecht mosque.
Police tweeted a CCTV image of Gökmen Tanis, suspected to be behind the tram shooting and said to be keeping an open mind on whether the shooting's a terrorist attack. A Turkish businessman living in Utrecht told BBC Turkish that Tanis has connections to ISIS
